| Bonnefantenmuseum, the St
Pieters hill, the Dinghuis, the old bridge on the river Meuse, not
to forget the exquisite culinary delights which a variety of
Burgundian restaurants have to offer, or special events like
Carnival or Preuvenemint. If you want to go shopping in
Maastricht, the oldest and most beautiful town of the Netherlands,
you have to allot at least one day for it. The district Wijck,
across the river, is also not be missed!
On the outskirts of town you will find
the MECC, an Exposition and Congress centre where many
international fairs are held, such as the renowned, prestigious
TEFAF art and antique fair. The whole year through exhibitions,
concerts and congresses take place at the MECC. Driving there by
car from and to Geulzicht Castle will take you less time than from
many hotels in Maastricht.
All tourist attractions in the South of
Limburg can be reached by car within 20 minutes, but leaving the
through roads to explore the many little country-roads that wind
themselves along picturesque dales, timber framed houses,
field-crosses and standard tree orchards, proves for many a man to
be the real highlight of the day.
Geulzicht Castle Hotel is situated on top
of a rock, very close to the Geul valley. The river Geul, with a
waterfall , runs 100 mtrs away from the castle. The Geul valley is
rightly praised as one of the most beautiful parts of the
Netherlands.
In summertime emerald green and golden
yellow, in autumn bursting with thousand colours, in winter little
Switzerland under a blanket of snow. A true paradise for those how
love walking and rambling and crisp, pure air. One can roam for
hours through nature and think oneself in a different country, if
it weren’t for the many crosses and chapels that remind you this
is South Limburg still.
The rustic location where one can walk
the many many walkingpaths in its surroundings is the basis of a
holiday to be active, to take a cure, to relax or even to work. |
